North Carolina Beyond Coal

North Carolina Beyond Coal

Join the clean energy revolution.

We can save lives—and billions of dollars—by closing North Carolina's seven remaining coal plants and replacing them with renewables. We also stand with frontline communities in fighting for climate justice and affordable energy for all.

Replace Coal in North Carolina

Coal plants are the most expensive way to produce energy in North Carolina. And none of Duke Energy…

What's wrong with Coal?

About NC Beyond Coal

The North Carolina Beyond Coal Campaign is leading the clean energy revolution in North Carolina…

What are our campaign goals?

Fight for Climate Justice

Pollution from Duke Energy’s coal fleet hits Black, indigenous, and low-income communities hardest…

How can we achieve clean, affordable energy?

Cleaner is cheaper.

Duke Energy's coal plants have cost North Carolinians over $2.8 billion in the past four years. Solar is already cheaper than all of Duke’s coal plants, and it will improve the health of our air, water, and communities.

All North Carolinians deserve clean air and water.

Prevent coal pollution from poisoning our health—especially in our most vulnerable communities. Over 18,000 North Carolinians die each year from air pollution, and toxic coal ash has contaminated rivers, wells, and drinking water supplies across the state.

Clean energy for all.

Join the fight for climate justice and energy democracy. Help us ensure everyone has access to affordable renewable energy.

End racial and class disparities in energy burden and pollution. We support clean, renewable community-based energy solutions and a just transition that uplifts Black and low-income communities who have suffered most from coal pollution.
