Most of the biggest electric companies in America are failing to build the clean energy system we need to tackle the climate crisis and save customers money. Scientists tell us we need to cut emissions at least 80 percent by 2030 to avert the worst impacts of the climate crisis, but only a handful of utilities have put themselves on that path. Instead, some of the biggest utilities are building even more new gas plants and planning to burn coal for decades, even though fossil fuel power costs customers more.
